At the age of 15 or 16 my dad and my cousin taught me how to play guitar.
A few years later, a friend of mine took me out
to a concert of one of our favourite bands these days,Humble Pie. Greg
Ridley, their bass player, kicked ass and just blew me away and I knew
what I had to do: I worked at the local paper factory all summer long
until I had enough money to buy me a bass guitar, a Fender Precision,
(natural finish w. maple neck).
It looked like the one Greg played, of course, and it's still mine.
I played in a couple of local bands and finished
school (Melanchthon Gymnasium Nürnberg) in 1980. Then I wanted to
become a professional musician.
Although I am mainly self-taught I was taking
private lessons (vocals, piano, music theory) so as to get a better
understanding of what I wanted to do. You have to know the rules before
you break them (Eddie van Halen).
In the early 80's I joined the hard rock band "Maggie's Madness"( 2 albums)
"L.A. Rock" ( Rock, the band toured mainly the U.S.Forces club circuit)
1986-'87 "Wildcat"(hard & heavy, former "Maggie's Madness)
1987 I joined the Country & Western Band "George & Lucky Riders"
(winner of the Marlboro contest 1980, toured
with Hoyt Axton, Commander Cody, Waylon Jennings, Charlie Daniels Band,
Bellamy Brothers),several productions (LP, CD, video, TV)
during this period I also played bass (recording studio and/or live performances) for the following artists :
Nancy Wood ( German country singer)
Dickey Lee ( singer/songwriter, Nashville/Tn)
Freddy Weller (singer/songwriter, Nashville)
Wanda Jackson ("Let's have a party")
1997-'98 "Custer"( country rock)
1998- : projects with singer/guitarist Rudi Madsius f.ex."Streetlife"
(rhythm&blues, soul, funk) >"BANDS", guitarist Wolfgang "Keili" Keilhofer" f.ex. "NC Brown Blues Band" >"BANDS", live gigs with the Irish singer/songwriter Pat Cooksey
2001- : Tony McLoughlin band, CD, gig f.ex. at the Nürnberg "Bardentreffen"
